Multiple streams of income are income streams that enable your art business to make money in more than one way. Your aim should be to initiate at least four income streams. Ideally these new income streams should generate passive income. Passive income is work that continues to bring in cash with out too much maintenance, long after you have set it up.
Print on Demand
Print on demand services allow you to upload high resolution images and have these images printed onto t-shirts, mugs, canvas, and many other choices. Most of these services encourage you to create your own store front. This helps to give you a greater presence on the internet, as well as another stream of income based on your artwork. These sites are attracting more and more traffic so the potential for sales is good.

Notelets and Postcards
Printing notelets and postcards on your own printer is another source of passive income. Once you have set up the files and the printer you can leave the printer to get on with the job. The notelets and cards can be sold directly from your gallery or studio. They can be sold from local to your area shops etc. Make sure that you have your website and email address on the back of the card.
Books
Writing “How to do it” information books that you can sell on your website is an easy method of setting up another source of income. Write about how to do one aspect of your craft and turn it into a small report. Every artist, photographer and craftsperson should be able to produce any number of reports teaching their art. These books only need to be about 10 pages – your not writing “War And Peace.” Sell them for about 7/12 dollars. When you have half a dozen or so related reports turn them into a larger book which will sell for about $25.
You could take this further and have hard copy books printed at Blur. Black and white printing is quite economical, and as hard copy books are considered more prestiges than ebooks they can be sold at a higher price.
All of these passive, multiple income streams not only bring in extra cash but also advertise your artwork and as far as the public are concerned turn you into an expert in your field. You must be an expert because only experts write books. Being considered as an expert brings the public back to where you want them to be – looking ay your original work.
